It is the reidence of the First Lord of the Treasury an office now held by the Prime Minister oo the United Kingdom
It is almost three hundred years old and contains about one hundred rooms
It was originally three houses and in 1732 King George II offered them as a gift to the office of First Lord of the Treasury
William Kent was commissioned to join the three houses together and it is this larger house that is known today as Number 10 Downing Street
In 1985 the building celebrated it's 250th birtday
